We are hiring a Sr. Financial Analyst at our corporate headquarters! In this role you will conduct and document complex financial analysis projects within Logistics and Supply Chain, specifically supporting our Transportation team. Beyond select technical skills, we are seeking a proactive and analytical problem-solver who can handle complex ad-hoc requests with minimal supervision. You will ideally have deep expertise in transforming raw data from various sources into clear, actionable insights for management. At this time, we are only considering candidates local to the Marshall or Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN general vicinity.
What You Will Do:
• Data Analysis & Transformation: Transform financial and operational data into meaningful information and actionable insights. This includes developing queries from different data sources, merging and appending them to create consolidated datasets, and automating routine reporting within Excel and Power BI.
• Financial Reporting & Forecasting: Report, analyze, forecast, and interpret financial and operating data — including profit/loss analysis, cost analysis, market niche reporting, regional performance assessments, customer proposals, rate of return, and depreciation. Measure the financial impact of freight RFPs at a lane level. The role also supports select end-of-month accounting activities, including accruals, adjustments, and allocations.
• Ad-Hoc Projects: Prepare complex financial analysis reports and complete individual analytical and ad-hoc projects with abstract guidelines.
• Operational Support: Serve as the key financial business partner to Transportation team management — clearly communicating, advising on, and recommending desirable operational adjustments, and interpreting budget-to-actual variances. Develop operating metrics and review performance against plans.
• Mentorship: Serve as a mentor and evaluator for lower-level staff and assist other teams with financial matters as required.
What We Look For:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting.
• 5+ years of related financial analysis experience, preferably within the logistics, supply chain, or transportation industries.
• Familiarity with transportation cost models — full truckload, LTL, ocean, parcel, and consolidation — is strongly preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and XLOOKUP, logical statements, and string manipulation.
• Strong skills in Power Query and Power BI for transforming and automating data from various sources; expertise in PivotTables and Pivot Charts is also critical for data manipulation and analysis.
• Experience with SAP Business Explorer (BEx) to create, edit, and audit queries.
• Experience with several of the following transportation and analytics tools is highly preferred: E2open TMS, Breakthrough Fuel, Czarlite, PC*Miler, DAT Analytics, and Xeneta benchmarking.
