We’re looking for a Senior Director, EHS to shape and lead our environmental, health, and safety strategy across all operations. This role isn’t just about compliance. It’s about building a proactive culture of safety, sustainability, and risk management that protects our people, our communities, and our business. Location can either be in Minneapolis, MN or near major airport in the Central/Eastern time zones and will require 50% travel.
In this role you’ll partner with senior leadership, plant leadership and EHS functional team members to make sure we’re not just meeting regulations but staying ahead of them. You’ll drive programs that reduce risk, ensure environmental responsibility, and keep safety at the heart of how we operate every day.
Responsibilities
- Execute the vision and strategy for all company-wide EHS & PSM programs
- Ensure we maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all federal, state, and local regulations
- Support the conformance to permitting, support compliance audits, and reporting while managing key regulatory relationships
- Build capability while guiding and supporting plant leaders and facility-level EHS teams
- Drive accident prevention, loss control, and risk management programs
- Ensure due diligence for capital projects and expansions
- Support EHS regulatory and legal matters, including OSHA and EPA negotiations
- Lead, mentor, and develop the EHS team to build strong bench strength
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience, ideally at the director level or higher
- Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental permitting/regulations
- Proven ability to influence at all levels, from the plant floor to the C-suite
- Strategic mindset with strong problem-solving skills — you see risks and solutions early
- Excellent communication skills — can translate technical issues into clear, actionable guidance
- MBA, advanced degree, or equivalent experience a plus
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000 annually with eligibility for a 35% annual incentive bonus, that is based on organizational performance. The pay range represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to educations, skills, work experience, certifications, geography etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
